Maurice Vaughan (Monty Vanovitch) was adopted by Isaac and Dora Vanovitch through Norwood in 1936.
My Dad had already passed away when we started our family tree and as he was adopted we never expected to find out about his biological family.
My mum gave me a scrap of paper with an address and a name. The address was Prebend Street, Islington and the name Christopher Rose. He had done some research in the past but learned very little.
We did some research and discovered that the address in Prebend Street had been destroyed during WW2
My brother Phillip was also interested and using the Internet and much time discovered that there was only one male birth in Islington on my dads birthday the name of the child was Johnny Christopher Rose. After applying for the birth certificate and the wait for it to arrive we struck lucky. The document contained the Address we had and the name on the certificate so now we knew a child called Johnny Christopher Rose was born to Zena Rose.
After an enquiry at the archives it became apparent that a Samuel and Leah Rose had lived at Prebend at the time but had moved away by 1937.
I posted a question on the BRITISH-JEWRY forum and within hours I had been contacted by Steve Milne who told me that he had a Zena Rose in his family tree and she lived at 47 Prebend Street with her family. so this was our first discovery was a link from Maurice Vaughan (Monty Vanovitch) to Zena Rosengarten.
